JANUARY 16, 2010 1ST MEETING OF THE YEAR AT PERKINS

In attendance: DWRD, FF, Amy, O_W, O W, AR, Catz, Bfett, fuzzball, M, Bean, nnay F_D, Katsu, QHM, Jomama, L-S-1, theropod & his 2 younglings, darklord49, Amanda, anthonymaul, S__C, & d_h.

X-Wing update, need to add brakes for new casters on the X-Wing. Trying to work on May’s Open Cockpit being a big celebration, Tim’s B-Day & SW month. Zoo working on this with the museum, just be prepared to help in any way.

Float – sketches were passed around, not really up for discussion on changing the plans at this stage in the game. Anyone who wants to help is more than happy to do so, d_h requests that you have some construction knowledge/experience or able to follow directions easily. General designs were discussed on how things will be built for it to be safe and low cost by recycling the old float. Talks of people being able to sit on the float, there will be minimal seating, but details can be worked out as we go.

Hoth costumes, a poll will be started to see who wants what costumes, how much interest there is going to be & how much help each person will need. I'm highly limited in the amount of production I can do now with a bum wheel.

Sarah’s first Sewing class will be on 2/7, please see thread for further details.

Starfest – April 16-18th Table? 50/50 interest, great recruiting tool, we can show off our float. Poll will be started for on line voting, Grimby would be willing to organize the schedule again this year. Panel? Talks of video games, Bfett would run that or Geek card, not sure if FF wanted to run that or not. We can have a “celebrity knock out” type battle at next meeting to see who wins?

C5 – Embassy Suites is the RMFF hotel of choice, the one on International Drive not Jamaica (FYI) Group costume? Hoth was brought up, ESB anniversary. I talked to the hotel, they would be willing to hold our costumes if we ship them all out at the same time, same shipper. I would be willing to call FedEx ground and figure out costs, location of pickup or drop off, and travel time, etc.

Disney Give a Day – Get a Day volunteering. This is where you donate to a charity that is on their website and you get a voucher to get into a Disney park for free. FF & Amy will look into this & start a thread for interested parties and charities so we can do this as a group.

Geek Card – these were great and you will have to EARN yours so be prepared. F_D is making a quiz we have to take just like you take for a driver’s license. More rules to follow on how this will work, still open for suggestions, ranks, photos, and signature. And something else I can’t read (sorry).

Game Night – Next meeting 2/20 still working out location but up North & then migrate to Catz & Bfetts.

Linda’s Library – FF would like to start a check in & check out system for books, videos, CD’s and whatever else we would like to pass around between each other. She can give us more details; maybe start a thread to see how much interest we have in this.

Battletech – Zoo is to organize a group outing for this, looks like it might be free for RMFF members that sign up in advance, it’s at the Fun Plex down South, they have food and drinks, looks like this will have to be a non meting event.

I don’t think I missed anything except for AR providing service in the “glory hole” he mentioned on the float, not sure if this is before, during or after the parade

To whom ever couldn’t make it, you were missed.

We concluded to D&B’s, ate, played games & ate B-Day cupcakes w/ way too much frosting & everyone had fun! (almost positive of that fact).
